The butterfly variety Ariadne is a tissue culture ranunculus that blooms in large sprays with its multiple blooms per stem. Butterfly Ranunculus have a light coating of wax on each petal, giving them a shimmering opalescent quality, the blooms quite literally shine.
Ariadne's petals are an ombre with blush pink coloring at the center that fade into a rich cream. Petals are layered in ruffles, giving a romantic and timeless look to any arrangement or garden.
Butterfly ranunculus are very heavy producers and are known for being more heat tolerant than tufted ranunculus varieties. Their corms are quite large and will produce large, robust plants that need more room to grow with a recommended spacing at 12 inches apart when planted. Stems are tall and sturdy for arranging and flowers hold a terrific vase life of up to two weeks when cut at the proper harvest stage.
